Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Illinois, requiring an active IL license, night shifts, and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a medical surgical unit within an acute care Level I trauma and Magnet hospital
• Typical assignment is 13 weeks with night shifts (three 12-hour shifts, 18:45-07:15)
• Patient ratios may be up to 1:7 if needed
• Expected to float within scope as needed by unit demands
• Every other weekend work is required, with additional weekends scheduled if time off falls on weekends
• Cares for patients requiring trach and laryngectomy care, with willingness to learn if not experienced
• Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs can be any solid color
• Manager reviews and approves requested time off; only one winter holiday may be requested off
• Parking is available at no cost with permit issued during orientation
• No on-call requirements
• Local candidates are accepted without radius restrictions

Requirements

• Active IL RN license must be in hand at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience with PICC line management and IV starts required
• Must be willing to manage trach and laryngectomy patients
• Able to work night shifts and required weekends
