Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Telemetry position on a cardiac unit requiring an active MI RN license and at least one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 54-bed cardiac telemetry unit
• Patient population includes heart failure, heart attack (STEMI/NSTEMI), stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, and chest pain
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6, with occasional increases to 1:7 during call-ins
• Uses cardiac monitors and manages cardiac drips
• Patients are monitored in a remote telemetry room and on the unit
• May care for medical overflow patients as needed
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 out of 3 holidays
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed but will be accommodated when possible
• Uses Cerner Powerchart EMR
• Responsible for caring for patients with various acute cardiac conditions and strokes requiring telemetry
• Collaborates with a team that is actively onboarding new travelers and hiring PCTs to support staffing needs
• Scrub color requirement is Caribbean Blue
• May occasionally care for overflow medical patients
• Must be able to adapt to fluctuating patient ratios as needed

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license required
• Minimum 1 year recent telemetry experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Experience with cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are accepted
