Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a level 3 trauma center requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong Med/Tele skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving a diverse adult patient population
• Night shift from 1900-0700, with option for 36-hour shifts
• Care for patients with chronic diseases, CHF, mental health and addiction needs, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, could surge to 1:7-8 based on acuity
• Use Epic EMR and department-specific equipment such as EKG, Doppler, transfer devices, and tele-medicine carts
• Floating within Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers must work 75% of holidays
• No on-call requirements
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a varied adult patient population with a focus on cardiac, medical, and behavioral conditions
• Strong team support including clinical supervisors, mentors, and rapid response staff
• 2-day departmental orientation and facility NEO provided
• Scrub color is navy blue

• RTO up to 6 days permitted, not including holidays, with additional time to be added to contract as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Experience with IV starts, wound care, blood product administration, and care of patients with tubes and drains
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit
