Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with at least 18 months of recent experience, capable of floating within a regional hospital network.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital with a Level 3 Trauma designation, Stroke Center, Bariatric Center, and Chest Pain Center
• Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 51 patients
• Common patient types include chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction requiring IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
• Night shift (1900-0700) with 36-hour schedule option available
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• Expected to work 75% of holidays
• No on-call required
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice; paid for travel time between facilities if mid-shift
• Uses Epic EMR with department equipment including scales, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, and telemedicine cart
• Team includes nurse managers, supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, mentors, and rapid response RNs
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days departmental training
• Navy blue scrubs required

• Up to 6 days of time off can be approved (excluding holidays), with extension required if hours are not met

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Skills in IV initiation, wound care, blood product administration, care of patients with tubes and drains, and general Med/Tele procedures
• Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the home unit
