Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position, requiring strong cardiac skills and a NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 44-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes cardiac cases such as chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, arrhythmias, medical overflow, and potential stroke patients
• Average RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5
• Shift options include 12-hour day or night shifts with a 7am or 7pm start
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Floating may be required within the designated regional facilities and within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac patients, managing cardiac drips, and providing comprehensive Med/Surg RN care
• Unit support includes CNA, charge nurse, team leads, HUC/reception, ancillary phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy
• Centralized telemetry monitoring is provided 24/7
• Orientation includes hospital onboarding and two days of departmental training
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking is available for staff

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with the possibility of extending the contract to meet hour requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, IV starts, drain and tube management, wound care, NGT placement, central line management, and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin)
• Experience working with Epic EMR preferred
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
