Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift role serving a diverse critical care population, requiring current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-bed ICU within a hospital setting
• Critical care patient population excluding cardiac surgical cases; common diagnoses include sepsis, ARDS, GI bleeds, DKA, cardiac arrest, withdrawal, and renal failure
• RN patient ratios 1:1-2; CNA support with up to 1:10 patient ratio
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am with every other weekend required
• Required to float within a defined hospital region as needed and within scope of practice
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Epic EMR system with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Duties include management of critical care drips, ventilators, invasive lines, blood products, and complex patient conditions common to ICU settings
• Support provided by a team with 24/7 charge nurse, respiratory therapist, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and limited on-site intensivist coverage
• No HUC or receptionist; RN responsible for phlebotomy with limited backup
• Orientation includes a general facility orientation and 2 days of departmental training
• Travelers are scheduled to work 75% of holidays and every other weekend
• Up to 6 days of time off can be approved, excluding holidays, with extension of contract end date if required
• Scrub color is navy and parking is free
• First-time travelers with strong experience will be considered

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficient with general ICU skills including critical care drips, invasive line management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, and wound care
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
