Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position on a night shift with a WV or compact license and a preference for oncology experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit with Med/Surg and oncology patient populations
• Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6
• Night shifts with options for either three or four 12-hour shifts (7:00pm-7:30am or 7:00pm-7:00am)
• Requires weekday shifts and every other weekend
• Contract length is 13 weeks with possible extensions and flexibility in assignment duration
• Blocked scheduling is available
• IV start skills required
• Cerner EMR is used in the unit
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Scrubs are not provided; must wear burgundy and/or white
• Pre-assignment orientation modules average 8 hours and must be completed prior to start
• Orientation is provided every other Thursday
• Attendance is strictly monitored and only 2-3 call offs are tolerated per contract
• Candidates who have worked as perm staff at this health system are ineligible for 2 years following last perm employment
• Not open to current Vandalia Health System employees in any capacity
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license; pending license will be considered
• At least 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; ONS chemo/bio preferred
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must have a permanent address at least 100 miles from facility; 75-100 miles considered case-by-case
• Ability to provide two manager or charge references from the past two years
