Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position in a Level 1 Trauma academic setting, requiring strong multi-ICU and telemetry expertise.
Responsibilities
- Work as a float RN in multiple adult ICU settings including Neuro ICU, Burn ICU, Cardiothoracic, and Trauma Surgery units
- May be assigned to IMC, Progressive Care, and General Care populations as staffing needs require
- Academic Level 1 Trauma Center environment
- Night and evening shifts, including 12-hour shifts from 1900 to 07:30
- Required to work every other weekend and participate in a holiday rotation
- Travelers are the first to float among units and may be shifted to different departments and/or locations as needed
- Utilizes Epic EMR, with recent experience required
- Must be willing to float and adapt to a variety of critical care and progressive care units according to staffing needs
- First-time travelers may be accepted based on unit preferences
- Holiday coverage is required in a rotational format
- Orientation provided per department schedule, with initial orientation at the primary hospital location
- Pass/fail testing may require a review course on cardiac interpretation if initial attempts are not successful
- Parking onsite requires a permit, with alternative transportation options available
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Minimum two years of recent acute care RN experience within the last three years in ICU settings
- Previous experience in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center required
- Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
- Basic arrhythmia recognition and telemetry skills required
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start, with strict criteria and limited attempts
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the work site
