Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for night shifts in a busy acute care hospital, requiring an Alaska RN license and strong cultural sensitivity.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Patient population is complex, with significant social history and domestic violence cases
- Every other weekend is required
- No floating to other units
- Electronic charting experience with Cerner is required
- Magnet hospital with 152 staffed beds
- Navy scrubs are required
- Must provide culturally sensitive and empathetic care to a diverse patient population
- No on-call requirements
- First time travelers are accepted for this position
- Maximum of one week of requested time off is allowed and must be made up at end of contract
- Holiday rotation is required, with expectation to work up to three out of four major holidays
- Free parking is available in designated parking structure
Requirements
- Active Alaska RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted for initial consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED nursing experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
- Cultural sensitivity to Alaska Native populations is essential
- Not open to local candidates within a 100-mile radius
