Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for night shift with cardiac surgery and advanced critical care expertise.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting
• Night shifts: 3x12 hours, 19:30-08:00
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Average daily census of 6 with 8 beds on the unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 for CVICU/CCRU; 1:3 if floated to IMC
• Care for immediate post-op cardiac surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB w RVR, cardiogenic shock, and vascular/thoracic cases
• Specialized procedures: vent management with respiratory therapy, FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, Impella, groin/radial artery management
• Required to float within the specialty, including IMC and lower acuity units
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage as scheduled
• On-call duties are not required
• Responsibilities include immediate post-op care for cardiac surgery and management of complicated cardiac and vascular patients
• Team support available from respiratory therapy for ventilator management
• First-time travelers with a strong CVICU or open heart background will be considered
• Holiday shifts are required as they fall within the contract
• Professional attire or appropriate scrubs are required according to unit guidelines

Requirements

• Active MD state or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• At least 1 year of recent CVICU or open heart experience is required; 2+ years preferred for first-time travelers
• Experience with advanced equipment such as ventilators, FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and vascular access management
