Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with ortho/neuro/ENT circulation experience and a South Dakota or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital operating room with a 4-bed unit
• Typical daily case load ranges from 7 to 13 cases
• Surgical case types include orthopedics, podiatry, neurosurgical, pain management, and ENT procedures such as total joints, ORIF, laminectomy, fusion, discectomy, ACDF, microsurgery, pain injections, and club foot repairs
• Schedule consists of 8-hour variable shifts with 40 hours per week
• Call is typically required twice per week, with details discussed during manager interview
• Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 4 major holidays
• Floating may be required to another hospital OR if needed
• Uses the Epic EMR system; Epic experience is preferred but not required
• Work as part of a team with support from resource nurse and anesthesia/CRNA team
• Phlebotomy support is available on the unit
• No IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, or hospitalist support
• 1st day computer training followed by 2-3 days of orientation with a preceptor
• Scrubs are provided
• Free parking available at the facility

Requirements

• Active RN license for South Dakota or a compact state
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent OR RN experience per system requirement
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
• Circulation experience in orthopedic, neuro, and ENT cases required
• First-time travelers considered only with at least 2 years of experience
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Previous permanent staff must wait one year before returning as travelers
