Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg night shift position requiring a MO or compact license and flexibility to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Med Surg unit with 39 beds
• Patient population includes medical-surgical cases with some telemetry monitoring, mostly pacemakers and electrolyte monitoring
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6
• Night shifts, 12 hours (7p-7a), with every other weekend required
• Assignment length is 13 weeks
• First to float to other Med Surg units within the traveler's scope
• Uses Meditech EMR and McKesson medication system; experience with Meditech highly preferred
• Must wear royal blue scrubs, which are not provided
• Hospital may call off 1 shift per 4 weeks worked, although this is rare
• Finding affordable housing is the responsibility of the traveler
• Unit does not accept acutely cardiac patients but does handle patients with pacemakers and needs for telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required (ACLS and NIHSS may be obtained during placement process)
• PALS certification required
• At least 2 years of Med Surg RN experience required
• Basic telemetry experience is a plus but not mandatory
