Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN with at least 2 years of experience and current BCLS and PALS certifications for a night shift assignment in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of an acute care hospital
- Patient ratios: PICU 1:2, pediatric floor 1:4, ventilated patients typically 1:1
- Night shifts (3x12 hours), 19:00–07:00
- No on-call required
- Every other weekend required
- Charting is done in Cerner
- Floating within scope may include NICU and Pediatrics
- Support staff includes CNAs and a medical clerk; charge nurse does not carry a patient load
- Block scheduling is available
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- Training or orienting new PICU nurses may occasionally be required
- No changes to contract (including RTO or schedule) once signed
- Facility is a Magnet designated hospital
- Free parking is available near the facility
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required; compact license accepted at sign-on with proof of AK license application
- Minimum 2 years of PICU nursing experience required
- Current BCLS and PALS certifications required
- Cultural sensitivity to the Native population required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted
- Must be willing to wear navy scrubs
