Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) night shift position requiring an AK RN license or compact license with proof of pending AK licensure and two years of PICU experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of an acute care hospital
- Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
- Patient ratios are typically 1:2 in the PICU and 1:1 for ventilated patients
- No pod structure, with support from CNAs and a medical clerk
- Charge nurse typically does not carry a patient assignment
- May float within scope to NICU and general Pediatrics units as needed
- Block scheduling is available
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Every other weekend is required
- No on-call requirement
- Will occasionally precept or check off nurses training in the PICU
- Support staff includes CNAs and a medical clerk for the unit
- Hospital is a Magnet facility with 152 staffed beds
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available onsite
- No changes to contract details, including RTO or schedule, once signed
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required by start date; compact license accepted at submission with proof of AK license application
- Minimum of 2 years of recent pediatric ICU experience required
- Current BCLS and PALS certifications required
- Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population
- First-time travelers accepted
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from facility
