Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring an IN or compact license and experience with trauma cases.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg unit with a patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes trauma such as GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, and significant post-surgical wounds
• Potential to precept and have students shadow during assignment as this is a teaching hospital
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• Required to work at least 50% of weekends during the contract, schedule based on unit needs
• Float to other levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) and to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system; Cerner experience required
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required depending on operational needs, with training and support provided
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Expected to make up missed shifts or have them added to the contract per policy
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No local candidates accepted for this unit
• Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
• Up to 5 days RTO may be auto-approved
• IN RNs (except for specified Periop areas) are not eligible to work after November 30, 2024

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand, or fingerprint application package submitted for consideration
• Current BCLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Level 1 trauma experience preferred
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program
