Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a Level 1 Trauma Center with mandatory floating and night shift requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Level 1 Trauma Center environment
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No block scheduling permitted
• Mandatory floating to various units as assigned, including facilities up to 50 miles away
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Will provide nursing care to a diverse adult medical-surgical patient population
• Strict compliance and timely document submission required for assignment continuation
• Navy blue scrubs required and not provided
• No specific home unit; floating may occur on short notice and outside the area of primary competency with team-based support
• Holiday shifts required; no requests off on or directly before/after holidays or weekends
• Maximum of 5 days requested time off per contract with no more than 2 consecutive days
• Returning travelers must complete full recredentialing and orientation regardless of previous assignment duration

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, respiratory interventions, and IV therapy preferred
• Must demonstrate ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• COVID-19 vaccine completion required prior to start (booster not required)
• Candidates must be able to complete lab work within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Locals accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles considered local
