Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) position requiring night shifts and a valid KS or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care LDRP unit with labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum responsibilities
• Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 2 triage beds
• Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum (couplet care), triage, and circulator for C-sections
• Average of 35 births per month
• Must titrate drips, including pitocin
• Electronic charting with Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Electronic fetal monitoring with Centricity
• Night shifts, 12 hours in length, with every other weekend and holiday required
• First to float per hospital policy
• Call required for low census, assigned in 6-hour increments
• Scrubs provided by the hospital
• Responsibilities include comprehensive LDRP care: labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, triage, and circulating for C-sections
• No nurse aides or surgical techs on unit; charge nurse takes assignments
• No OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7; anesthesia available within 30 minutes
• Must be prepared to float to other units within the facility as needed
• Hospital follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Orientation week requires in-state presence even if first-day modules are remote
• Returning employees must not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year

Requirements

• Active KS or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in L&D or LDRP setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required (AHA accepted)
• Experience in circulating for C-sections required
• Ability to titrate labor-related drips
• Driver's license must be provided for consideration
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility
• Two references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
