Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with ICU background and required ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications for a dynamic surgical recovery setting.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Phase 1 and 2 PACU within a hospital environment
• Recover surgical patients in the PACU and occasionally in the ICU or STICU
• Patient population includes vascular, endovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gyn, urology, general, bariatric, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatric surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 to 19:00
• Call required once every four weeks
• Weekend scheduling varies
• Expected to float to overflow areas such as surgical short stay
• Uses EPIC for documentation, Pyxis for medication administration, and Perfect Serve for communication
• Specialized equipment includes cardiac monitors, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, dopplers, fetal heart monitors, EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacs
• Primary responsibilities include patient recovery following anesthesia and monitoring for discharge readiness
• PACU RNs may recover ICU-level patients but do not float to ICU assignments
• Assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and may be required to report for catastrophic events, mass casualty or disaster situations
• Comprehensive, individualized orientation is provided on hire
• Schedule is managed by committee
• Navy scrubs required
• Maximum approved RTO is 7 days; additional RTO or call-offs may result in contract cancellation
• Local candidates accepted with possible rate adjustment for those living within 50 miles of the facility

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Travel/contract experience required
• ICU experience required (screened based on checklist ratings 1-2)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
