Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined Med Surg and Obstetrics position requiring recent relevant experience and multiple certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Critical Access Hospital setting
• Care for patients on both Med Surg and OB units
• Patient ratios typically range from 3 to 4 patients per nurse on Med Surg
• Float between Med Surg and OB units as needed
• Shift schedule rotates between days and nights, 12-hour shifts, totaling 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• One on-call shift required approximately every 4 weeks
• Charting is performed using Epic EMR
• Uses equipment including Sanford One Charge and Pixis medication systems
• Unit size is 25 beds
• Responsibilities include providing nursing care in Med Surg, OB, and occasionally ER settings
• One day of Epic computer training, one day of OB training, and one day of Med Surg training will be provided
• Navy blue scrubs with no logos are required; white may be worn under the uniform or as a lab coat
• All staff must badge in and out of the facility
• Must be prepared to work all assigned holidays and every other weekend
• Holiday and on-call shifts are distributed as part of the regular schedule

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• At least 6 months of Med Surg experience and 6 months of OB experience within the past year
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred
• Ability to function independently in the ER and manage up to 5 patients on Med Surg
• Epic charting experience required
• Disclosure of any previous employment with Sanford Health is required
