Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center with a NY RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Patient population includes both adult and pediatric emergency cases
• Common cases include trauma, multisystem organ dysfunction, neuro-trauma, burns, respiratory, psychiatric, and medical emergencies
• Recommended patient ratio experience is 1:5
• Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication administration, and SBAR for communication
• Requires every other weekend coverage (2 weekends per 4 week schedule)
• Day shift schedule consisting of 3x12 hour shifts from 12:00 to 00:00
• Orientation consists of 24 hours
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Preferred qualifications include CPI and TCAR certification
• Team-based emergency nursing care with exposure to a variety of trauma and medical cases
• Scrub or dress code details will be provided during onboarding

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Experience with blood product administration, central line management, IV sedation, vasopressor administration, and ventilated patients required
• Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
