Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele role with strong cardiac and stroke experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Observation Unit of a hospital setting with 10 beds
- Average daily census is 8 patients with an RN: 1:5 and CNA: 1:10 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
- Use of Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice
- Support available from supervisor, charge RN, resource RN for admissions and discharges, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT and hospitalist (not dedicated to the unit)
- Scrub color is navy
- Free employee parking is provided
- Great team culture with unit book clubs and social activities
- Initial orientation includes facility orientation and two days of departmental training
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of major holidays
- Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
- First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred
- Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved, not including holidays, with contracted hours to be met
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and management of drains/tubes
- Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
