Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry PCU/IMC position requiring ACLS, BLS, EKG course, and expertise in titrating cardiac drips.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC) in an acute care hospital setting
• Unit specializes in telemetry with a 30-bed capacity
• Patient population includes cardiac, nstemi, post cath lab, afib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, with potential to increase to 1:5 with CNA support when necessary
• Common titratable drips include nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
• Telemetry monitored by tele techs using GE monitors; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Respiratory equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, with scheduling not self-directed
• Weekend and holiday coverage required every other cycle
• Call and standby responsibilities are required
• Floating required to medical-surgical or IMC overflow in ICU
• Charge nurses also take patient assignments, typically two patients
• Support staff includes nurse aides with a ratio of 1:10-12 depending on census
• Department provides up to 3 days of unit-specific orientation
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Former permanent staff must have a minimum 6-month break and require hospital approval to return
• Local candidates within 80 miles are considered but will receive a reduced rate
• Must disclose any prior employment at Marshfield and meet separation requirements

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license (required by start date)
• Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry or PCU/IMC nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Completion of EKG course required
• Experience in titrating IV nitro, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone drips
• References required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor
