Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring an OH or compact license, with advanced cardiac life support certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high acuity ICU setting with neuro, cardiac, and postsurgical patients
• 24-bed unit with possible overflow to 36 beds
• Uses equipment including Alaris pumps, ventilators, CPAP/BiPap, pressors, IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, Impella, SWAN, and ECMO
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3, subject to change
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to other levels of care as needed
• Intensivist, resident, and hospitalist team coverage with rapid response RN and house supervisor support
• Scheduling is flexible; block and self-scheduling options available
• Main responsibilities include hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, advanced cardiac support, and care for critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure
• Team supported by intensivists, mid-level providers, residents, rapid response nurses, and a house supervisor at all times
• ECMO experience is preferred but not required
• Dysrhythmia exam study guide is available prior to the required EKG exam
• Scrub color is navy blue
• Will consider 48-hour contract options
• Must be able to adapt to high acuity and rapidly changing patient conditions
• Will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Pass/fail EKG (dysrhythmia) testing required on first day with up to two attempts
• Willingness to float to other units as needed
• Local candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
