Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry position requiring a valid NJ or compact RN license, ACLS, and recent cardiac/acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Intermediate Care/Telemetry Unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., three 12-hour shifts per week
• Patient population includes cardiac and telemetry cases
• Basic dysrhythmia monitoring required
• EPIC EMR system is used on this unit
• Travelers may be required to float to a nearby sister hospital
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients
• Apply and interpret telemetry leads, and manage high-risk intravenous cardiac medications
• Document patient care, interventions, and teaching in accordance with hospital policies
• Initiate and coordinate patient and family education, including discharge planning
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team and participate in patient care conferences
• Follow proper documentation and order transcriptions, including compliance with regulatory requirements
• Scrubs or professional attire must follow hospital guidelines
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Assignments are limited to a maximum of one calendar year; a 30-60 day break is required before returning

Requirements

• Current NJ or compact state RN license in hand
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• 1-2 years of recent experience in cardiac/telemetry and acute care settings
• Basic dysrhythmia interpretation skills required
• PCCN certification preferred
• BSN preferred or enrollment in a BSN program
