Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery night shift role requiring 3-5 years of high-risk L&D experience and strong newborn care skills.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Labor & Delivery unit with high volume and high acuity cases
• Serves midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery populations, and community care clinics
• Unit features 31 rooms, 31 beds, and averages 500-600 deliveries per month
• Responsibilities include circulating and functioning as Baby Nurse during deliveries
• Required to float to Postpartum and Antepartum units, and may float to nearby Mother/Baby units in sister facilities
• Shift is night (3x12-hour shifts) from 19:00 to 07:30
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
• Electronic charting with Epic is required
• Role includes administering heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate as needed
• Must follow AWHONN guidelines for staffing and patient care
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Holiday and every other weekend work required as scheduled
• All travelers are expected to float to other campuses within the state as needed
• Former perm staff from other Providence facilities must have a minimum 3-month separation before applying as travelers
• Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Pre-approved time off is reviewed case by case; extensive RTO may affect consideration
• Proper scrub attire in accordance with hospital policy is required

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license required
• 3-5 years of high-risk, high-acuity Labor & Delivery experience required
• Must have current BLS and NRP certifications; ACLS and AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate preferred
• Must provide strong newborn care including eyes, thighs (Vit K injection), and newborn assessments
• Must have experience circulating in Labor & Delivery surgeries and procedures
• Supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the past 3 years in L&D required
• Must provide proof of required certifications and current Nursys verification upon consideration
• Epic EMR experience required
