Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU RN experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Position located in the Medical ICU of a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations
- 14-bed ICU unit with diverse medical cases including ventilators, sepsis, renal failure, stroke, and hemodynamically unstable patients
- Patient ratios typically 1:1 or 1:2, with rare instances of 1:3
- 12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p with a weekend rotation of 6 shifts every 6 weeks
- Floating required to all adult ICU and PCU units
- EPIC used for charting; experience preferred
- Utilizes specialized equipment including Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, TABLO, PCA, and Belmont Rapid Infuser
- Duties include management and monitoring of critically ill patients with high-acuity diagnoses
- Opportunity to assist with a variety of bedside procedures, including chest tube and tracheostomy management
- Support available from CNAs, phlebotomy, resource nurses, PICC team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and physician coverage
- One day facility orientation and two days of departmental orientation provided
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on campus with additional options for paid parking decks
- Unit culture is fast-paced and focused on teamwork
- First-time travelers will be considered for this assignment
- Holiday coverage required according to hospital policy
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, vasoactive medications, and invasive line management required
- EMR experience with EPIC preferred
- CCRN preferred but not required
- Must be able to float to all adult ICUs and PCU as needed
