Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a GA or compact RN license with strong critical care skills and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 14-bed adult ICU within a Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes medical ICU cases such as respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, stroke, ARDS, and ventilator-dependent patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1-2, with rare instances of 1:3
  • Shift is 12 hours, 7p-7a, on a night schedule
  • Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts in a 6 week period
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • Float to all adult ICU units and progressive care units (PCU) as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
  • Equipment includes Pyxis, Phillips monitors, TABLO, and Belmont Rapid Infuser
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
  • Support staff includes charge nurses, unit secretaries, and a float resource team
  • Orientation consists of 1 day for facility and 2 days for the department, along with educational modules
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free campus parking is available, with paid deck options
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented ICU environment

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, vasoactive medication titration, central and arterial line management, and assisting with bedside procedures
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • CCRN certification preferred but not mandatory
