Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring NC or compact licensure, two years of recent experience, and demonstrated telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Serve adult patients with diagnoses such as stroke, respiratory illnesses, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wounds
• Patient ratio is typically 1 RN to 5 patients
• Shift begins at 6:45pm, with 36-hour shift options available
• Scheduled to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Floating required within Region 3 facilities (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division)
• Epic is utilized for EMR documentation
• Virtual nursing (VNO) available for special monitoring and as a second RN witness
• Collaborate with a team including CNAs, phlebotomy services, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and virtual RNs for patient care support
• Department provides free parking for staff
• Required uniform is navy scrubs
• Department culture is patient-centered and team-oriented
• First-time travelers are welcome for this position
• Orientation includes facility-specific and departmental training
• Floating may occur within your scope of practice; compensated for travel if floating mid-shift

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube and central line management, and IV starts
• Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit for eligibility
