Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position, requiring at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Hospital setting in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5, CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Typical diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, and angina
• Use of Epic EMR system, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Day shifts available from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm or 6:50 am to 7:10 pm
• Required to work every other weekend
• Travelers are required to cover 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities, within scope of practice; paid for travel time between facilities if floated mid-shift
• No on-call or call back responsibilities
• Daily responsibilities include care of patients with complex cardiac and neurological conditions
• Support is provided by a supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, IV/VAT team, and phlebotomy
• Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to facility orientation
• Navy scrubs are required
• Up to 6 days of requested time off can be approved, excluding holidays; additional time off must be added at the end of the contract

• First-time travelers will be considered, but preference is given to those with previous travel experience

Requirements

• Active NC or compact state RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required for Resource Team
• Minimum of 18 months recent experience providing Med/Tele RN care
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
