Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience and a compact or NC RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 35-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Typical patient population includes stroke, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical, and behavioral health cases
• Patient ratios are RN 1:5, LPN 1:5, and CNA 1:10
• Shift is 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with a 4-week rotation schedule
• Every other weekend is required
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Float within Stanly (Med/Tele, ICU, PCU, ED) and throughout Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, Philips monitors, and Masimo equipment
• Telemetry monitoring/tech available, RNs must interpret tele strips when floated to other units
• Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with support from CNAs, resources, and 24/7 hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
• Orientation includes NEO and up to 3 days on the unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Regional floating may include mid-shift float with paid travel time between facilities
• Free parking is available
• No trauma or teaching hospital responsibilities

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years' Med/Surg Tele RN experience within the last year
• Strong general Med/Tele skills including post-op care, orthopedic experience, TPN, PPN, stroke experience/NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, wound care, and medication infusion management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
• Not preferred for first-time travelers, but will be considered
