Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with AL or compact licensure and experience in IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care for an adult and geriatric patient population.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Day shifts: 3x12 hours, 7:00 to 19:00
• Every other weekend required
• Float to other units as needed
• Possible charge RN responsibilities as required
• Care for adult and geriatric medical surgical patients including wound care and IV therapy
• Candidate cannot be a former permanent employee of the health system
• Modules required for orientation vary by specialty and are completed during onboarding
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at confirmation, with a maximum of 7 days; no additional RTO will be approved after confirmation
• Schedules are fixed once contract is confirmed and cannot be adjusted
• Locals within a 60-mile radius are considered at a different rate
• Lunch breaks are 30 minutes and required
• Must not have conflicting per diem schedules or contracts during assignment

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license (pending license accepted for consideration)
• Current BLS certification through AHA required
• Fit test required prior to assignment
• Proven skills in IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vac
• Level II trauma experience preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
