Description

Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN with at least two years of recent specialty experience and a NM or compact state RN license for rotating weeknight and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) setting
Care for post-anesthesia patients recovering from surgery or procedures
10-hour shifts, 4 days per week
Rotating weeknight and weekend shifts are required
30-minute call-back response time required during assigned shifts
Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
EPIC EMR is used; onsite training is available
Provide direct nursing care utilizing the nursing process for assigned post-anesthesia patients
Collaborate with the healthcare team and coordinate care with the patient and family
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document according to policy
Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as assigned
Identify and address patient and family education and discharge needs throughout the care episode
Must wait one year after permanent employment at the facility to be eligible as a traveler
No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Passing BCA test is mandatory; failure after two attempts results in termination

Requirements

Active state of New Mexico or compact RN license
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
Minimum of two years of current PACU RN experience required
At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
Must pass basic cardiac arrhythmias (BCA) testing during first week of assignment
