Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in Hawaii with a current HI RN license and advanced life support certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within a hospital setting
• Care for patients during pre-op, phase I, and phase II recovery after surgery
• Variable shifts including 8, 10, and 12-hour days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• On-call required 0-3 times per month, covering 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekends/holidays
• Utilizes equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
• Report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to assignment start date
• Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved exception required prior to contract start; vaccination may be completed during health clearance appointment
• Duties include advanced assessment of incision sites, monitoring vital signs, and recognizing post-surgical complications
• Critical thinking and strong assessment skills necessary for PACU care
• Experience with surgical nursing or critical care is a plus

Requirements

• Current HI RN license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience in hospital setting (ER or ICU experience may substitute for PACU experience)
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• PALS certification from the American Heart Association recommended and may be required for certain positions
• Other specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC preferred
