Description

Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma center requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Responsibilities

Position is based in a 56-bed Emergency Department in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital
Treats a combined adult and pediatric population with an average daily census of 175
Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekend work required every other weekend
No on-call required
No floating outside of the assigned unit
Cerner charting system is used and prior experience is required
Scrub color is any solid color
Responsibilities include rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of diverse emergencies for adults and children
Part of a multidisciplinary care team in a fast-paced, Level I trauma setting
First-time travelers are accepted and supported
Up to 5 days of time-off is permitted per contract
Free onsite parking provided by permit
Discuss block scheduling requests directly with management

Requirements

Active IL RN license or proof of application in progress
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC required
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction, and emergency response
Experience with blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, emergency meds, and IV vasopressors
Experience in pediatric emergencies including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, and poison ingestion
Experience with neurological cases (CVA, spinal cord injury, TBI), orthopedic splint management, acute psychiatric cases, and respiratory emergencies including chest tube and intubation
Experience with triage and isolation precautions
Cerner EMR experience required
