Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced oncology-focused Emergency Department night shift position requiring an IL RN license and ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Emergency Department with an oncology focus, open to general emergencies but not a designated trauma center
• Adult and pediatric patient population in a non-trauma ER setting
• Uses Glideoscope for intubation and ultrasound IV technology
• Pyxis medication system and EPIC EMR are utilized
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 7:00pm to 7:30am, with self-scheduling and manager oversight
• Hospitalist coverage during days and 24/7 ER physician support
• Support services include interpretation, lift team, pharmacy, PT, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, social services, and unit secretary assistance
• Minimum 36-hour orientation provided, with additional time as needed
• Responsibilities include emergency care for oncology and general community patients of all ages
• Team-based environment with robust provider and ancillary support
• SBAR communication required for patient hand-offs
• Pewter scrubs are required but not provided
• Orientation period is tailored based on experience and unit needs
• Preferred qualifications include experience in trauma centers, STEMI/stroke certified facilities, ICP monitoring, and neuro-trauma care
• Additional preferred certifications: MAB, NIH, TNCC

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA, no HeartCode), and PALS
• Experience in combined adult/pedi non-trauma ED, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG, arterial line and central line management, starting IVs, and phlebotomy
• Ability to administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and blood products
• Experience managing CVA, traumatic brain injury, multisystem failure, splint/orpho-trauma, psychiatric and behavioral emergencies, and triage
