Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery LDRP night shift assignment, requiring ID or compact RN licensure and strong L&D and mother-baby skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit with 14 beds
  • Float required to all St. Luke's Treasure Valley sites in primary skill set (L&D, postpartum, antepartum) or as a sitter
  • Shift is 12 hours, 7p-7a, with weekends as needed based on unit needs
  • Unit features 2 OR suites for C-sections and 4 triage beds; circulator and recovery roles for RNs
  • Patient population includes 32+ weeks gestation, hypertensive cases, BACs, TOLACs, some gestational diabetes, and diverse community backgrounds
  • Follows AWHONN staffing standards: 1:1 in labor unless pairing 2 cervical ripening patients, postpartum couplet 1:3, triage 1:3
  • Common protocols include Pitocin, magnesium, and occasional insulin drips
  • Supports approximately 90 births per month
  • EPIC EMR system is used; orientation and compliance assignments must be completed before start
  • Resource and charge nurses are available each shift and do not take patient assignments
  • Responsibilities include labor support, postpartum care, C-section recovery, newborn stabilization, and physical assessments
  • No call or standby required for this position
  • Hospital-issued scrubs required with on-site changing at start and end of shift
  • No acrylic, gel, or lacquered nails permitted due to NICU protocol embedded within the LDRP unit
  • May be required to work holidays if needed, though there is no fixed traveler holiday rotation
  • No block scheduling allowed; travelers fill scheduling needs before preferences are considered on subsequent schedules
  • Four shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, including labor, C-section, and postpartum coverage
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being considered for a travel role
  • At some sites, different scrub colors may be required; travel pairs must have separate vehicles due to possible floating

Requirements

  • Active ID or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Minimum 3 years of L&D experience and mother-baby experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with magnesium protocols, attending deliveries, newborn care, triage, C-section circulation, and couplet postpartum care is required
