Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an acute care Operating Room position requiring a minimum of two years OR experience and an active ID or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Operating Room within an acute care hospital setting
  • The surgical department has 17 suites and averages 65 cases per day
  • Patient population includes both adults and pediatrics, including trauma and specialty cases
  • Common cases involve general, DaVinci, neuro-spine, ortho, urology, oncology, ENT, GYN, and bariatrics
  • Primary shift is 12-hour days (7a-7p or 9a-9p), variable days off, with minimum four hours of call per week
  • Possible weekend and holiday in-house 12-hour call shifts, typically once per month
  • Call response time is 30 minutes
  • Rare floating is required to nearby surgery centers or ORs, including CVOR for those with experience
  • EPIC is used for charting and EMR documentation
  • Scrubs are provided in grey
  • One week of orientation including general and unit-specific training
  • Work with a multidisciplinary surgical team including 24/7 charge nurse and OR techs
  • No scrubbing required for RNs in this role
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
  • Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
  • Holiday and weekend call coverage may be required, with volunteers considered first
  • Returning employees must meet eligibility requirements for rehire

Requirements

  • Active ID or compact state RN license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Operating Room RN experience required
  • Previous travel assignment experience preferred
  • Experience with a broad range of OR cases strongly preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility

L&D Unit is Traveler friendly for CST roll as well as RN roll. Work load is very manageable. Great staff support.
