Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a NM or compact license and current ED experience for a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Work in an emergency department of an urgent and emergency care facility
- Patient population includes a wide range of emergency cases in a large, high-acuity ED
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, three days per week
- Epic EMR is used; experience preferred but on-site training is available
- Provide direct care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of emergency patients
- Coordinate patient care with families and interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and provider orders
- Supervise LPNs and assistive personnel in the department
- Must complete patient population, procedure, and protocol education per unit standards
- Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia exam failure on the first day results in contract cancellation after a second failed attempt
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required
- Minimum of two years of recent experience in a large emergency department
- Must have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certification required (BLS, ACLS, PALS must be through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross)
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
- Must pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test during orientation, with one retest allowed if needed
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; locals not eligible
- Returning perm staff must have a one-year separation to be eligible as a traveler
