Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and active NE or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute care ICU at a Level 2 trauma center
• Patient population includes critical care diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, stroke, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2 for ICU, may staff medical patients at 1:5 and PCU at 1:4 during downgrades
• Required to titrate drips including vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives
• Use of ventilators and BiPAPs is required
• RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
• Epic is used for charting
• Day shifts are 12 hours from 0630 to 1900
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
• Floating to PCU and medical floors may be required
• Unit orientation includes first week system onboarding and 1-2 twelve hour shifts specific to the unit
• Artificial nails are prohibited for all staff providing patient care
• Critical care coverage and E-ICU support are available 24/7
• Unit is supported by techs with ratios adjusted based on patient census
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• A maximum of 7 days of requested time off will be considered per 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Orientation includes both system-wide and unit-based training

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at the time of application
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with titrating critical care drips and working in a Level 2 trauma center preferred
• Must provide a copy of current driver's license for verification of 50-mile radius rule
• Candidates who are full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible
• Pass a skills exam during orientation with a required score of 90% or higher
• References required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
