Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with at least 18 months of recent experience and required certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a post-surgical care unit within a hospital setting
• 32-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:4-6, surging to 1:7-8 at peak times
• Provides care for post-surgical and general medical patients, including bariatric, orthopedic, and general surgery cases
• Night shifts (12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Expected to float within the designated regional facilities as needed and within RN scope of practice
• EMR is Epic; uses BD Alaris pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Masimo telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7
• Remote telemetry techs are utilized for continuous monitoring
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free parking provided onsite
• Orientation includes general and two-day departmental training
• RTO up to 6 days allowed (excluding holidays), with additional time appended to contract if required
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Hospital is a Level III Trauma, teaching facility, and designated Stroke Center of Excellence and Bariatric Center of Excellence

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience within the last year
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Strong skills in trach care, chest tube management, IV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, wound care, drains, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Experience with Epic EMR and remote telemetry monitoring preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the hospital unit
