Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a NC or compact RN license, 2 years of PCU experience, and proficiency with Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Night shift position (3x12 hours, 19:00–07:00) in a Progressive Care Unit within a short-term acute care hospital
• Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital environment
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5
• Care for progressive/intermediate acuity adult patients
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to like units or across campuses may be required
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Epic charting system in use; experience required
• Local candidates not accepted within a 50-mile radius
• No travel pairs accepted for this unit
• Return staff policy requires a one-year gap before returning as a traveler
• PCU travelers on night shift may extend contract twice before a mandatory six-month break, subject to availability
• Pre-employment modules (4-10 hours) must be completed before starting
• Return-to-work (RTO) requests are limited to manager's discretion, with a maximum of 4 days and 1 holiday approved
• Background or license issues within the past year are not eligible
• Vaccination documentation or valid exemption required before start
• Interview availability is requested as part of consideration

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or step-down experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG exam prior to start
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• First-time travelers accepted
