Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active OR license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Primary diagnoses include leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, sickle cell, and symptom management
• Specialized care includes chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, stem cell infusions, CAR-T therapy, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and blood product transfusions
• Central line care is required
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
• Night shifts with 3 x 12-hour schedules, 19:00–07:00
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within Acute Care/IMC and to affiliated hospitals as needed
• EPIC is the charting system used
• Responsibilities include administering chemo/biotherapy, blood transfusions, and performing advanced procedures such as stem cell infusions and bone marrow biopsies
• Clinicians must float as needed; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
• Scrubs in any solid color are permitted (no prints), and are provided
• Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to start
• Return staff must have a six-month break before returning as a traveler
• Time-off requests must be provided up front; maximum of 5 days off for a 13-week contract
• Parking is available for a daily fee, and public transportation is encouraged
• Holiday coverage may be required
• Locals are accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active Oregon RN license required (or license application submitted to qualify for 90-day exemption)
• Minimum 1 year of medical oncology RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemo certification required (does not have to be ONS)
• Chemotherapy competency preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required; no exemptions permitted
• References from two managers or supervisors within the last 24 months required
• Must provide full work history for the last seven years
• No background or license issues accepted
• Epic charting experience preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted
