Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position requiring a NE or compact RN license and at least two years of PICU experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within an acute care hospital setting
- Care for high-acuity pediatric patients with occasional support for adult patients in emergency situations
- Shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with varied days including weekends
- Contract duration is typically 10–13 weeks
- Uses EMR systems other than Epic or Cerner
- Provides care for critically ill pediatric patients with conditions such as respiratory distress, sepsis, and post-neurosurgical recovery
- Collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive care
- Manages and titrates drips, sedation agents, and ventilatory support for pediatric patients
- Supports resuscitation efforts for adult patients in emergency situations within the medical/surgical unit
- No on-call requirements
- Consistent schedule with minimal fluctuations
Requirements
- Active NE or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PICU or similar high-acuity pediatric setting
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- ACLS certification is preferred but not required to start
- Demonstrated proficiency with ventilator management, sedation infusion, titratable drips, and management of arterial and central lines
- Experience in handling complex pediatric neurological and cardiorespiratory cases
