Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in Kansas requiring at least 2 years of recent MS-Tele experience and a compact or KS RN license.

Details

• Work in an acute care setting as part of the MS/Tele Float Pool covering multiple units and specialties
• Adult and geriatric population with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology, post-surgical, psych/detox, and general medicine
• Expected to float between multiple sites within Zone 4, up to 60 miles from the zone center
• Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Night shifts, 12 hours in length, with 6-9 weekend shifts required within each 6-week schedule
• Use of Epic charting system and Alaris IV pumps
• May be required to float to ICU (for low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS/Tele units as needed
• Charge nurse present and may take a small assignment on night shift if necessary
• RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP available
• Heparin drips may be titrated

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license in hand prior to consideration
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS required
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience within the last 3 years
• Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris pumps preferred
• Driver’s license must be provided for consideration
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the zone center
• Two references required: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years

• Care for a broad range of adult and geriatric patients with various medical and surgical needs
• Flexibility required to float to different units and facilities within the designated zone
• Orientation week requires clinician to be present in-state, even if remote modules are assigned
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to the assignment start date
• May participate in holiday rotation as needed
• Scrub requirements will be provided during onboarding
• Nurse aides and monitor techs are available as support staff
• Returning candidates may not have worked directly for the health system within the past year
