Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Room/Medsurg Swing position in an acute care setting, requiring a MN RN license and two years of ER and Medsurg experience.

Details

• Work in a combined ER and Medsurg Swing unit within an acute care environment
• Unit is a Trauma Level IV, STEMI receiving, and Stroke designated center
• 4 ER beds and 2 trauma bays, with no separate Fast Track or Triage area
• Average ER volume of 10 patients per day, ER holds are intermixed
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms are available
• Charge nurse present on each shift with patient assignment responsibility
• Day and night rotating shifts, 12-hour shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a), three shifts per week
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Potential to float to Medsurg and Swing bed (same unit)
• Mindray telemetry monitors used; RNs responsible for reading their own strips
• Charting system is Point Click Care (PCC), experience required

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses accepted
• Minimum two years of recent ER and Medsurg experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC; PALS preferred
• Must provide two references including one recent supervisor from the last 12 months
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Cannot have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year

Additional Information

• RNs may be required to troubleshoot RT equipment
• No respiratory therapist coverage in the ER; RNs handle relevant tasks
• No tele/monitor technicians—RNs read and interpret their own monitor strips
• Lab staff handle blood draws and transport
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• 12 hours of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Requested time off must be submitted up front; additional time off during the assignment will not be approved
