Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring previous travel experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 24-bed Med/Surg unit with diverse adult patient populations including CHF, renal failure, COPD, seizure, and sepsis
• Utilize devices such as foleys, PIVs, PICCs, Medi ports, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, and PCA pumps
• Administer non-titrating cardiac drips and titrate heparin drips
• Shift is 12 hours overnight with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Use of oxygen delivery modalities including nasal cannula, Salter, and high flow devices
• Receive support from unit secretaries and patient care technicians including phlebotomist and transport staff as needed
• Role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the nursing process
• Dysrhythmia exam administered on the first day with two attempts permitted
• Unit is supported by an interdisciplinary care team to assist with care delivery and discharge planning
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Every other holiday coverage is expected as part of the regular rotation

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• A minimum of two years Med/Surg RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam during orientation with provided study guide
• Candidates must live 50 miles or more from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
