Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a day shift Med/Surg role in a Post-Neuro Care Unit (PNCU) requiring a compact or VA RN license and strong team skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 18-bed Post-Neuro Care Unit (PNCU) within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios are 5-6 patients per RN
• Day shift hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Unit uses equipment including feeding pumps, peg tubes, IVs, central lines, drains, and EKGs
• Primary EMR used is Meditech; prior experience is preferred
• May float to other Med/Surg units as required
• Assist in procedures such as bedside lumbar punctures, central line dressing changes, tube feedings, wound care, and Foley catheter insertion
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and clinical coordinators
• Navy scrubs required per unit dress code
• Strong communication and neuro assessment skills are preferred
• References and document verification are part of the application process
• Outgoing, team-oriented candidates are the best fit for this unit

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
• At least 2 years of clinical experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, compassion, and patience required
• References required per state guidelines
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
• Compliance with 50-mile radius rule; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
