Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GYN Med/Surg position in a women's health unit requiring a VA or compact RN license and recent Med/Surg experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a women's health GYN Med/Surg unit with 15 beds
- Typical patient ratios are 5 to 6 patients per nurse
- Patient Care Technician support available on each shift
- Uses Meditech documentation system
- Shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with at least 4 weekend days per contract
- May be required to float to other units as needed
- Unit performs bladder challenges and vaginal packing
- Responsibilities include providing specialized nursing care to women's health patients in a Med/Surg setting
- Documentation and communication using Meditech EMR
- Perform bedside shift reports, hourly safety rounds, and use of patient whiteboards as part of patient experience initiatives
- Required to wear navy blue uniform scrubs
- Time off requests must be approved in advance
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in Med/Surg or related specialty required
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in area of placement preferred
- Medical/surgical nursing background required
- Must provide valid US Social Security Number and date of birth for consideration
- References required: one for most states, two if licensed in Florida or Missouri
- No gaps in work history greater than 90 days in the past 12 months
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
