Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a night shift Med/Surg Tele position in a long-term acute care setting, requiring a compact or SC RN license and acute care certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00) are required
• Patient ratios are 1:6
• Weekend shifts are required as needed
• Float to lower levels of care within the nurse’s scope may be required according to critical staff needs
• On-call required: must take 2 on-call shifts or work 2 additional shifts per 6-week period
• Recent EPIC EMR experience is preferred but not required
• Care for LTAC patients with Med/Surg and telemetry monitoring needs
• Must pass a cardiac dysrhythmia test on the first orientation day with only one chance to pass
• Shaving may be required for onsite fit testing to meet compliance requirements
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Attendance policy enforces a review of contracts if more than two shifts are missed during a 13-week contract without valid reason
• All requested time off must be included prior to contract signing; additional RTO after submission will not be considered
• Previous permanent staff of the health system are not eligible for traveler positions

Requirements

• Active RN license for SC or compact state; pending license accepted if finalized before start
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute Med/Surg Telemetry experience preferred; 1 year will be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be able to pass arrhythmia and medication testing on the first day
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
