Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring a MO or compact RN license and a minimum of one year Med/Surg experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Float to other Medical Surgical units and may be assigned as a patient observer (sitter)
• Mandatory to work at least 50% of holidays during the contract
• Team nursing approach with nurse/tech teams caring for up to 7 patients
• Day shift nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 and night shift ratio of 1:6
• Cerner EMR used; experience preferred but not required
• Primary nursing responsibilities include assessments and medication administration
• Nurse/tech team structure supports lab draws, ambulation assistance, and hourly rounding by techs
• A nurse navigator assists with admissions and discharges
• May come into contact with patients with contagious illnesses
• Facility is open 24/7, requiring flexibility in scheduling
• No re-orientation required if returning within 18 months; a 9-month gap between travel assignments is required
• Local candidates within 75 miles are considered
• Must submit all requested time off with application; changes not accepted after submission

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• At least 2 years of overall RN experience and 1 year in Med/Surg
• Physical ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing 20 lbs or more
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather
• First-time travelers are accepted
